Pretty Good

: The wine philosophy of the Red Claw team is obvious in this Pinot Noir vintage as the resulting wine comes with a great depth of character and fierce mixed aromas. The nose is assailed by a blast of cherry and dark fruits with latent scents of perfume and complemented by a touch of spice and laid-back French oak. The long smooth palate has grace and a velvety texture leading to a very dignified finish. We pair this well-rounded wine with such rich foods as: fennel-garlic pork roast, stuffed eggplant with lamb and pine nuts, vegan enchiladas, roasted goose with crispy skin, smoky glazed ham with red pepper or bruschetta.

WINERY INFORMATION:

Two vineyards under the Red Claw brand have gained enviable prominence due to their uncompromising premium wines: Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir. The first vineyard, the Yabby Lake Vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula was planted in 1998 and a decade later, went on to be a premier producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. The second is the Heathcote Estate on Drummond Lane planted in 1999.  This vineyard was initiated for one purpose: to produce one wine, a single vineyard Shiraz. In a decade, the Red Claw label earned the distinction of crafting a singular Shiraz wine of character and longevity. Tom Carson, Winemaker/General Manager of Red Claw, supervises the two vineyards. They continually find ways to craft a premium wine truly reflective of the season in which they were grown and the spirit of the site itself.
