Elderton Wines, set up in 1982, is owned & operated by the Ashmead family. It was founded by Neil and Lorraine Ashmead who purchased this piece of land with old Shiraz & Cab Sav vines at the time when the Australian wine industry was negligible of table wines. Despite all hardships, they paved their own way and eventually established a landmark, bagging the Jimmy Watson Trophy. This earned the winery a reputation in national & as well as international markets. Using the best practices both in the fields and winery, Elderton believes in the philosophy that “great wine is made in the vineyard.'' The aim is to produce world-class wines using the entrenched Barossa Valley grape varieties sourced from the estate.
