WINERY INFORMATION

Established in March 2000, Chalkers Crossing is a modern wine company located to the north of the Young township in New South Wales. The winemaking team headed by Celine Rousseau aims to craft a premium quality range of Australian wines which retain a true sense of the terroir of their vineyards in the Tumbarumba and Hilltops wine regions.

TASTING NOTES

Aged in French and American oak barrels for a brief term of 12 months, Chalkers Crossing CC2 Shiraz features a medium red colour with purple hues stemming from the edges. The perfumed bouquet exudes rich aromas of dark cherry and black pepper, with subtle spicy oak notes lurking in the background. This magnificent Shiraz offers a complex yet fresh palate filled with flavours of red berries and fine tannins, to culminate in a crisp and captivating finale. With a cellaring term of five to six years, this medium bodied wine tastes great with red meat, smoked meat and soft cheeses.

90 Points - James Halliday Australian Wine Companion

"A wine with a herbal riff of spearmint and sage, spiced with anise and cardamom. Blue fruits provide the bass and cracked white pepper the seismic rhythm of cool climate Shiraz. Finishes abrasive and a tad too short to merit a higher score".
