The grapes used to create this beautiful Pinot Noir were picked, destemmed and then cold soaked. Post-maturation in French oak barrels for 12 months, it flaunts a pale ruby colour with a purple haze. The attractive bouquet exhibits powerful aromas of dark cherries, ripe berries, violet and rose, coupled with subtle plum notes. These fragrances are reflected on the structured palate, where they are joined by light suggestions of herbs, spicy oak and silky tannins. These intense characters end the wine in a long and fleshy finale. This vibrant red wine can be cellared for a decade or more. It is an excellent match to foods like Furneaux Double Cream with walnuts and prosciutto on ciabatta bread.
Senior Winemaker Tim Heath became a part of Cloudy Bay’s winemaking team in 2005. Since then, Tim has led a dynamic team for producing a diverse range of pure and flavoursome wines. Accomplished winemaker and viticulturist David Hohnen decided to establish a vineyard in the Marlborough region. He founded the winery in 1985. It is situated on Jacksons Road in Blenheim, New Zealand.
