Established by J.J. McWilliam in 1913, McWilliam’s Hanwood Estate is a family owned wine company set amidst the scenic New South Wales region. It is currently managed by sixth generation winemaker, Scott McWilliam, and has been named the Most Successful Exhibitor at the Sydney Royal Wine Show for 18 consecutive years.
The grapes used to craft this wonderful red wine were harvested in early March, left on skins and fermented in stainless steel containers for a period of 2-6 years to retain rich fruit flavours and tannin texture. This 2013 McWilliam’s Inheritance Shiraz displays a vibrant rouge colour with light red hues and contains about 13.5% of alcohol. The perfumed bouquet exudes fresh and spicy aromas of black pepper, forest berries and dark cherry with subtle hints of toasty oak in the backdrop. This medium bodied Shiraz varietal is sweet and delicate, with flavours of red cherry and forest berries balanced by fine tannins to culminate in a dry and lingering finale. This 2013 vintage wine can be cellared till 2016. It matches best with red meat, dark chocolates, stews and spicy ethnic dishes.
