WHY DO WE LIKE THIS WINE

Mud House Estate Woolshed Sauvignon Blanc is pale lime in colour. It has bright passionfruit and grapefruit aromas, along with a subtle jalapeno hint. Add crushed ice to experience its beautiful structure and length, and be surprised to discover snow pea, kaffir lime and subtle nuances of tropical melon on the mid-palate. This wine can be consumed immediately, but additional cellaring of 3 to 5 years will make you enjoy this outstanding Sauvignon Blanc even better. Pair this wine with a delectable prawn and crayfish salad with avocado, lime, and chilli dressing to enjoy its taste to the fullest.

Vineyard - Located in the Upper Wairau Valley region in Marlborough, Mud House Estate’s Woolshed vineyard is a 100-hectare area blessed with loam and clay soils that are perfect for growing Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes. The area receives an average of 7.5 hours of sunshine daily, 765 mm of rain annually, and enjoys an average temperature of 25°C during summer days and 7.2°C during winter days. The area is sheltered from frosts by a steep triangular hill. The varying slopes help diversify the fruits for more interesting flavour characteristics. Winemaking - Grapes were harvested in the cool of the night to preserve the vineyard characteristics, after which they were gently crushed and pressed. The juice was fermented with yeast at cool temperatures inside stainless steel containers. The wine was then racked, and allowed to settle on light yeast lees before it was bottled on August 18, 2014.
