Nick Holmes laid the foundation of Shottesbrooke in 1981 when he planted his first vines right outside Myponga, a hamlet in South Australia. After the winery’s construction on McLaren Flat property, the company set splendid examples of wines from McLaren Vale. Today, under General Manager and Chief Winemaker Hamish Maguire’s leadership, Shottesbrooke continues to produce a range of premium wines, loved in Australia and the rest of the world.
The fruit parcels for this dazzling Estate Series Pinot Noir were handpicked in the whole bunch, cool fermented on skins and then pressed into stainless steel. A portion of the juice obtained was matured in new and old French oak. This process led to the creation of a vibrant crimson-hued wine accompanied by mulberry flecks. The perfumed nose gives off scintillating aromas of Satsuma plum and strawberry, coupled with subtle hints of spice. This alluring Pinot Noir is elegant and undulating on the palate, containing fresh red berry flavours and juicy acid line. The finish is firm and structured. Made for immediate consumption, this beautiful red wine can also be cellared for four years from vintage. It tastes amazing with char siu pork pancakes served alongside Asian greens.
