A James Halliday ‘5 red star’ winery, which is the topmost rating awarded by the renowned wine critic, Wines by Geoff Hardy carries forward a 160-year-old family viticulturist tradition. Wine pioneer Geoff Hardy began his career in 1975 by joining his family business - Thomas Hardy & Sons. Two years later, he received his diploma in wine production. 1980 saw Geoff laying the foundations of his first project, Pertaringa vineyard, in association with Ian Leask. The success story continued and in 1987, he found a unique, cool climate site in the Kuitpo region of southern Adelaide Hills.
Considering that it was the first commercial planting of the locality, he named it K1. Geoff’s latest gifts to the industry are the ‘Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy’ and ‘GMH’ ranges of wine. Together, all these brands make for Wines by Geoff Hardy. The company has won numerous awards and accolades over the years which include ‘Australian Winery of the Year’ in 2012 and 2014 by the prestigious Winestate Magazine. It also made it to the top 5 list of the magazine in the years 2016 and 2018. Shane Harris, Senior Winemaker and Brand Ambassador, who has been a part of the company since 2006, won the ‘Australian Winemaker of the Year Award’ by the aforementioned publication in 2012, and of late in 2018.
