Stonier Wines

Stonier Wines was established at Merricks in 1978. The first vines were planted in 1978 and by 1988 the vineyard had expanded to 6 hectares. The region's cool maritime climate is ideal for these early ripening varieties. Stonier follows a steady progression of wine style, building on a quality foundation set by our earlier made wines. It is one of the few wineries in Australia to measure its carbon footprint in detail, using the officially recognised system of WFA; it is steadily reducing its consumption of electricity; it uses rainwater, collected from the winery roof, for rinsing and washing in the winery, as well as supplying the winery in general; it has created a balanced ecosystem in the vineyard by strategic planting of cover crops and reduction of sprays; and has reduced its need to irrigate.
