Originating from France’s Rhone Valley, Viognier is the only grape variety that is permitted to manufacture the French wine Condrieu. Similar to the Chardonnay variety, Viognier grapes have the potential of being able to produce delicate yet powerful and full - bodied wines with ripe fruity characters. Aromas of peach, apricots and apple flow round the nose along with lovely floral fragrances. The dry and strong palate showcases luscious juicy flavours of apple, peach and apricots that are coupled with tree fruits, spicy characters and nuttiness. The Viognier grape variety has a naturally - low acidity that requires lots of sunlight for the fruit to ripen properly. But it is best to ripen them under carefully monitored environments because too much exposure to heat can result in an overblown and extremely acidic wine lacking freshness and zest. Pair Viogniers with freshwater fish, white meat and mild cheese dishes to enjoy them to the fullest!
