Founded and established on the outskirts of the small town of Gumeracha in the year 1985, The Chain of Ponds winery is situated just 4 kms away from the original township, in the northern part of the Adelaide Hills wine region. Initially, 4000 vines were planted on the vineyard – 470 vines each of 9 distinct varieties. In 1989, the area was extended by 150 acres and more vines were planted on the vineyard, with the first vintage being released in 1988. Regional flavours and complexities have been added to the wines as the winery has now begun importing fruit from other vineyards of the region as well. As the region sports a cool climate, the wines produced are elegant, flavoursome and much - loved by the people. Among reds, the winery produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Shiraz varietals while among whites, it manufactures Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc wines.
